Current Work

Research Interests

I am interested in most periods of European archaeology, with a particular focus on material culture, artefacts and technology. I have a background in stone tool analysis and am currently looking at the social context of ironworking technology in Iron Age and early medieval Ireland.

Early Irish Iron

At the moment most of my time is devoted to research for my PhD on the social and technological context of ironworking in iron age and early medieval Ireland (recently featured in the Irish Times).

Pebble Survey

Picture
As part of my Masters Thesis on flint from Lambay Island of the coast of Dublin, Ireland I undertook a survey of the pebble flint resources on Lambay's beaches. Since then I have been extending this survey to the Dublin coast facing lambay. I hope to have the survey completed before I retire!
